Book Bakery
Exhibition- Library of the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Chittagong 2021,
VOLUMES, Art Publishing Days 2022, Zurich, Switzerland, part of Chapakhana Archive, Bangladesh.
Book Bakery enjoys giving the reader/viewer a performative feeling through the content choice, design and material. Material came after investigating content, observing the local market, and conversing with the author. The idea was inspired by the taste sensation of baked food and explored in various contexts. The book as a body and the archive inside can be baked collaboratively to welcome the reader to perform with it. Book Bakery welcomes readers to travel with its concept to perform with its structure through blending design and content.
Also it explores the relationship between books and art, a notion refreshed by photographers, graphic designers, writers, and visual artists. The first exhibition was supportive of unlocking the stagnancy after COVID-19 in the Fine Arts Institute. The artists reconstructed the book concept and shed light on the protagonists involved in the production process and the history and interpretation of materials. The experience was intellectual and haptic. A plethora of future themes was approached and engagement mediated on the subject.

Disappear Roots:
Shamsul Alam halal’s Disappear Roots speaks to the conscious talk of a new man- made landscape created by constructing a water power plant at Kaptai Dam (1962), where 1,00,000 people (70%chakma, indigenous peoples), including the Chakma king, also lost their livelihood due to this powerplant project. Shikkha Shingara: Although Rabindranath Tagore’s work is often discussed in Bengali literary society, his collection of essays on our education system, Shikkha, only sometimes comes into the dialogue. The initiative is to publish this literary work as an audiobook in Cholito Vasha, a form of modern Bangla language. The under constructed book is designed in collaboration with two students.
